wow, I just got about 50 more inventory slots (seriously, I obsessively got most hats for most of my chars by setting my alarm clock on event holidays and then jumping districts to get more for others)
this totally rocks........SOOOOOOOO frees up space, plus we don't have to be so worried to get every hat for each of our main characters, just one and you can spread it around

I'd like to thank ANet for adding the hat storage. I have 28 characters so this is a godsend. Plus I was going for survivor on a few characters and didn't want to reroll after failure because they would lose their hat. THANK YOU. You've cleared up at least 50 slots for me!

So much for me ever getting the Horns of Grenth and the Yule Cap from last year. That's not fair, I didn't get into playing GW before Wintersday 2005. Thought I'd be able to borrow the ones my friend has (who got me into GW in the first place), but you can't copy someone else's hat.
=(
Instead of not being able to copy them for free, what about a higher cost for one you didn't get the first time around? Like 10g for the ones you have and maybe 10k for those you don't? I want Grenth's Horns, they just look so cool!

That wouldn't work out because it'd be unfair for those who made it to the event to get the headgear and those who didn't well that's just too bad, make it this year. This is why they're "special" headgears so it can signify who made it to what event (ie:Halloween '05, Wintersday '05, Dragon Festival, etc etc)

this was most likely done to reduce overcrowding of towns. as now once you get a hat for one of your chars there is no need to go back with each char.

No, of course not all the time. J/k with ya.
I like the new Party Search. I like the hat npc for the most part. My only criticism would be, where's the love for Factions? So Kamadan and LA get the hat npcs, what about Kaineng? Elona and Tyria get Halloween and Wintersday, what happened to Cantha? Those Factions only guys and gals like having extra storage too, they still have their Tengu and Dragon Masks taking up space. Please let me know if I've missed something, I can take it.
And yeah, I know Cantha has the Dragon Festival but it's still outnumbered by the Tyrian/Elonian holidays plus no hat npcs.
And yes, I know you're not supposed to start a paragraph with "and".

The hat NPC is not storage it's a copy shop. Don't get me wrong, its a great step in the right direction, but its not more storage. -big thanks to the developers.

Well, in effect it is storage, yes. Just to be clear: If you have a lot of hats stored, you can make sure the Festival Hat guy has a "copy" of any of yours, and then you can, if you wish, delete all that you carry and only conjure one up when you want to wear it. Now granted, that'll cost you a whole 10 g, but...
The element that everyone needs to keep in mind is that the dyed hats should be retained -- that would be the Tengu Mask and the Dragon Mask, if my memory serves. (Once, long ago in alpha -- like Halloween 2003 -- we could dye our pumpkin heads -- what fun!) Anyway, if you want to keep the coloured/dyed version, then don't delete it, because the hat npc cannot make dyed copies, but only the original version, sans dye.
And I'd like to ask those of you who are so grumpy to consider taking a "Happy Wintersday Pill" and vowing to keep a positive frame of mind until the new year. All of us here would benefit from your kindness, and who knows? You might find you're a happier person from the effort of not always seeking the negative and the grumble-able in life. I mean it sincerely: I would like to see you happier, and I don't think that the negativity that is in your posts has a thing to do with the game, but lies deep within. In the spirit of the season, I wish you (inner) peace.
